This session will discuss the what, how and why of an HR audit and how you can tie your departmental objectives to the strategic needs of your organization. Learn how to perform an overview of your organization's operations to determine what policies need evaluation. The presenters will show you how to evaluate current policies to determine potential risk and what steps can be taken to minimize this risk while strengthening HR's relationship to the strategic plan. You will also discover how to apply State and Federal laws and regulations to correct current policy deficiencies and reduce the risk to your organization at the same time supporting known objectives.

 Barbara Henry, SPHR, is the Director of Human Resources for WellSpring Resources in Alton, Illinois.   WellSpring Resources is a leader in promoting mental wellness and personal growth by instilling hope and empowering individuals to be their personal best. Barbi holds a masters Degree in Business Administration from Fontbonne University in St. Louis and a Bachelors degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville.  Barbi has spent the last 20 years working in Human Resources for non-profit, casinos, and government as well as consulting with small businesses. In each of these environments, she has written policy, designed training programs and provided extensive employment law and labor relations support.

Tracy Laxton, SPHR, is a Human Resources Manager for Suncoke Energy in Granite city Illinois.   She holds a masters Degree in Human Resources Management from Webster University.  Tracy has spent the last 17 years working in Human Resources for large and small corporations such as Cooper Industries, Invensys, Printpack, Inc and Magna Inc., as well as consulting with other companies including, Emerson Electric, Pohlman and Fusion Coatings to implement lean manufacturing principles.  In each of these companies, she conducted workshops and training programs in addition to needs analysis and consulting on performance issues. 

Tracy has led change efforts to improve organizational effectiveness by enabling employee empowerment, teamwork and developing a performance management process which improved departmental communications and people development.
