Employer-sponsored health care plans continue to navigate through a sea of rising costs and complex federal reform. In recognition of this new environment, some employers are accelerating their strategies while others are exploring new alternatives, including private health exchanges. Identify environmental factors that are driving change in benefits strategies, and review the initial findings of the Private Exchange Evaluation Collaborative (PEEC), an independent initiative that provides employers with objective insights on private exchange strategies and comparative purchasing decisions.

Amy Bergner is an attorney and Managing Director in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Global Human Resource Solutions practice. Since 2009, Amy has focused her attention on federal health reform, and is a nationally recognized expert on the Affordable Care Act (ACA), helping employers and their vendors, insurers and other stakeholders to understand developments, analyze the impact on their organizations, and develop and execute strategic and operational implementation plans. She is a frequent speaker and author on the ACA and related topics, including private health insurance exchanges.  Amy also leads PwC’s national regulatory and compliance services for health and welfare benefits.

Mike serves as one of PwC’s national thought leaders for the Health Industries practice and consults with major employers and other stakeholders on strategies related to ustainable cost reduction, integrated health, well-being, consumerism, retiree health, private health exchanges and health reform. Recently, Mike helped PwC and four leading business health coalitions establish the Private Exchange Evaluation Collaborative (“PEEC”) to assist major employers to consider and implement private exchange strategies.
