Road to Well Workplaces: A Focus on Recovery Ready Practices
Colorado Ballroom B - Level 3
In-Person and Virtual Wednesday 11/06/2024 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM   Add to calendar
Competencies: Interpersonal (Behavioral), Leadership (Behavioral) | Intended Audience: Beginner (Committing to I&D)
Workplace Application:
Attendees will learn how to embrace employees in recovery and proactively address substance use at work via recovery ready programs.

In 2022, unintentional overdoses: primarily from opioids: accounted for 10% of workplace fatalities. Meanwhile, alcohol use continues to increase, cannabis legalization brings confusion, and 79% of workers are looking for workplaces that offer substance use support. The National Safety Council has created a 'Workplace Wellbeing Hub' that HR can use to chart a path for creating or expanding their recovery ready programs. During this session, we'll explore how your organization can use this actionable tool to take steps: including the adoption of opioid overdose policies: towards embracing employees in recovery.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define recovery ready workplace principles.
  • Describe the steps HR can take to implement recovery informed programs.
  • Describe the process to create an opioid overdose response program.
  • Identify resources to assist HR professionals in creating inclusive workplaces that value workers in recovery.
