The NLRB is redefining its relevancy for today’s workplace.  As union membership declines, the Board is engaged in new initiatives to “protect” the union-free employee.  HR professionals practicing in the union-free environment need to appreciate emerging requirements involving social media, concerted activity, and workplace policies of all kinds.  In addition, an NLRB impacted by the 2012 elections will be revisiting issues making it easier for unions to unionize.  Election procedures, an employee right’s poster, small bargaining units, access issues, and email policies are all on the agenda.
