1.25 HR Credit | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
This session will examine applications of benefits programs as well as the role of benefits programs in talent management.

The objective of this session is to provide an overview of common trends and best practices in the implementation of benefits across the HR industry. Each year, SHRM conducts a large-scale survey to examine benefits trends in the workplace. This survey is used to investigate how organizations and HR professionals are making use of the benefits in the workplace to enhance talent management strategies and the lives of their employees. During this survey, we capture trends in six major areas: 1) wellness initiatives, 2) flexible work arrangements, 3) health care benefits, 4) leveraging benefits for retention, 5) leveraging benefits for recruitment, and 6) communication of benefits and benefits enrollment. In 2012, we uncovered shifts in the way organizations are implementing wellness initiatives and using benefits to attract and retain talent. Further, communication of benefits best practices have been gathered across several industries.
