Workplace Application:
This session will provide an overview of the mix of benefits and services for public sector defined contribution retirement plans.

Combining the right mix of benefits and services for public sector retirement plans can provide real value to both employers and employees. Governments need to understand and choose the different ingredients available to create a benefits plan that ensures it is achieving adequate income replacement for retirees. This session will help you:

  • Understand why 457 plans are no longer “nice to have” but need to be considered as an integral component of an employee’s retirement income strategy.
  • Realize that it’s up to you/the plan sponsor and plan provider to take an active approach in promoting workplace savings in order for 457 plans to be an effective source of retirement income.
  • Determine strategies to broaden and refocus communication about 457 plans beyond an emphasis on education for “do-it-yourself” investors, to present clear and complementary “all-inclusive” solutions for the majority of your employees.
