The Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division continues its focus on punitive enforcement while reducing compliance assistance resources for employers. DOL’s strategic agenda for 2012 includes increased focus on independent contractor misclassifi cation, joint employment issues, the planned “Right to Know” recordkeeping regulations, and increased cooperation with state agencies, unions, plaintiffs’ attorneys and other employee advocates. McCutchen, a former administrator of the DOL’s Wage & Hour Division, will provide an update on these initiatives.
