Sessions
In an economic downturn, cost cutting measures such as layoffs, wage and benefit reductions, and furloughs are often necessary to maintain the bottom line. In this session we discuss the interplay between common labor-related cost cutting measures and immigration rules and requirements. We will explore the limitations of cost cutting measures when dealing with immigration programs and some alternatives to help achieve financial objectives and fair treatment of employees while remaining compliant.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand immigration laws and regulations governing wages, hours, reporting and terminations for common visa classifications.
- Identify and manage risk concerning common payroll-related cost cutting measures.
- Propose and develop alternative strategies for reducing costs when managing a global workforce.
