1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: HR Expertise, Consultation, Critical Evaluation | Intended Audience: All Levels
Workplace Application:
This session will help you understand the difference between knowing and doing and describe competency-based testing

Have you ever encountered someone who knows every fact needed to perform a task? Have you ever asked that same person if they could, in fact, handle a situation calling upon them to perform that same task? Take for a moment a professional who can tell you every law calling for transparency in a case of corrupt practices involving executives. Sure they can tell you everything you need to know about the Sarbanes-Oxley Act or the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act but can they tell you what you should do when facing that situation? Competency-based testing like the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP gives it a different spin by asking you to address the situation and demonstrate mastery by identifying the best possible solution. This session will help you:

·         Describe the basics of competency-based testing

·         Identify how competencies relate to job performance in HR

·         Define which competencies are critical for your own success
