The 112th Congress and the Obama administration have propelled important HR public policy issues to the forefront of activity in Washington. Many issues of importance to the HR profession are at the forefront of consideration of Congress and the federal agencies. Key issues of focus include efforts to overhaul the nation employment-based immigration system, proposals to modify the recently enacted health care law, initiatives to require paid leave as well as proposals to limit the use of background checks in the employment process. Pending federal regulations on employment-related issues of interest to HR professionals will also be discussed.
