S101A
Sunday 06/16/2013 08:00 AM - 12:00 PM   Add to calendar
4.00 HR Credit | Competencies: Critical Evaluation | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
This highly interactive session will provide a practical overview of sexual and other forms of unlawful harassment.

We have seen a meteoric increase in harassment on account of factors other than sex, such as race, ethnicity and religion. While employers try to prevent such harassment, the claims continue. Segal will provide suggestions for how to get through to those who don’t get it. The session will also emphasize the gray areas where people without bad intent sometimes get into trouble based on differences in perception. We will discuss the perennial problem of workplace dating as well as the newer problem of social media and textual harassment as well as how to deal with equality opportunity abusers or those who bully but not based on a protected status. Finally, special attention will be paid to how to make sure that your harassment prevention program does not create cement for the glass ceiling by creating a culture of avoidance.
